Bathroom renovations
Most people spend more time than they are aware of in the bathroom both resting and doing a variety of tasks. Doing a bathroom renovation project will be a perfect way to convert your bathroom into a calming retreat where you get ready for the coming day and recover at the end of it. Prior to beginning a bathroom renovation project it is important to take some time and determine your overall budget and what items you need to include. One of the major details people want to modify is the lack of storage space which usually exists within this cramped room. Although it will often be overlooked, good lighting is an essential part of a well planned bathroom. One key aspect of refurbishing a bathroom will be your lighting needs to allow you to perform tasks such as shaving or applying makeup, and also help produce a comfortable and calming environment. One of the newest developments in bathroom remodeling is employing eco-friendly sustainable products such as cork flooring, low-flow toilets and water saving showerheads. While a bathroom renovation or repair project can require a significant amount of time and money, it is sure to pay off in both the enjoyment of the space and the increased value of your home.

Crown molding
Crown molding is the name given to the interior design element which consists of trim put up around a room where the ceiling and the wall meet, producing a refined “crown” effect. Crown molding is an easy way to add a luxurious look to any room in your home, and any money you lay out for wood molding is well worth it, although you may need to get a professional to put it in. If your budget will not allow for the purchase and installation of wood crown molding, you have an excellent alternative in faux crown molding, the easy to install and less expensive products made of stryofoam or polyurethane which look exactly like wood trim. Mounting wood crown molding can be tricky business since the corner pieces usually have to be precision-cut with a mitre saw, and then affixed with screws or nails. With faux crown molding, however, you can handily mount it yourself, as it is usually manufactured with peel-and-stick adhesives which you attach to the ceiling and wall and hold in place until the adhesive dries. When installing crown molding the corner pieces must go in first, and then the middle sections, a process that is far easier with faux trim because those corners are pre-cut. The two typical materials for faux crown molding, stryofoam and polyurethane, have important differences which you must understand before making a choice. Styrofoam crown molding is less expensive than polyurethane material, but you have to be sure to only use latex paint as petroleum based paints will damage Styrofoam, but not polyurethane.
